Caroline mentioned last year that she would love to go to The Roman Camp Country House & Restaurant, so we were delighted to be invited to the country house and experience the tranquillity last November!
The Roman Camp Country House & Restaurant was built in 1625 for The Dukes of Perth as a hunting lodge but has been an hotel since 1939. The owners, Eric & Marion Brown, have been welcoming guests with their warm hospitality for over thirty years! It is easily reached from the village of Callander which is just a short walk away.
When we arrived, we immediately felt the warm and inviting atmosphere with open fires, flickering candlelight and genuine hospitality! We stayed in the Lady Esther Suite which was traditional and comfortable with all the original features! There are 15 suites and bedrooms on the property, all en-suite.
We also got the chance to dine at the restaurant which has been awarded “Three AA Rosettes”, and serves lunch and dinner. They also have a small café-bistro called the Potting Shed within the walled garden serving relaxed snacks, coffee and meals.
As it is our Wedding Specialists’ issue we had a tour of the property and found it a unique and truly romantic wedding venue. Nestling in twenty acres of gardens with lawns rolling down to the river’s edge and shaded by ancient trees it is a stunning venue for your wedding! And think about the photographs!
